Sheffield Wednesday hold 'positive' talks with transfer targets as Darren Moore looks for passion

Sheffield Wednesday have held "positive" talks with prospective new signings, manager Darren Moore has revealed. The League One club are set for a busy summer after coming up short in the League One play-offs.

With Moore having released Sam Hutchinson, Chey Dunkley and Saido Berahino and seen seven loan players go back to their parent clubs, the Owls boss is acutely aware of the need to bring in reinforcements. Moore said talks are under way with potential new recruits and will continue to "happen in the background".

Speaking to the club's official website, Moore said: "Some of the talks have been positive. The competition really is fierce out there.

"The type of players we are trying to compete and get are not short of one or two offers as well. We have to try our very best as we consistently do and hopefully we can get the right players into the club to push us on again."

When asked to give his thoughts on the transfer window, Moore said: "The talks have to go on and sometimes you feel like the talks are going nowhere but it is all part of the process.

"You have to have those conversations with the clubs, the players and their representatives. There are so many talks that you have to have. Even meeting individuals, if they are out of contract, to discuss where they are at. It's a two-way thing for me is meeting the player.

"There is no better way of meeting a player than when you look into your eyes and you see their passion. That's what we want at Sheffield Wednesday. We want real passionate players who want to play for the club and drive it forward.
