Sheffield Wednesday fans backed to play their part as pundits deliver verdict on Sunderland tie

Clinton Morrison has backed Darren Moore to have Sheffield Wednesday's players fired up for the second leg of their League One play-off semi-final with Sunderland. The Owls have got it all to do after losing 1-0 at the Stadium of Light last night.

Ross Stewart's goal just before half-time has put the Black Cats in the driving seat. The centre-forward pounced on a lapse in concentration from Sam Hutchinson to claim his 25th goal of the season.

The Owls rode their luck at the start of the second period, with Alex Pritchard hitting the crossbar and Dan Cirkin heading over from close range. Although the visitors finished strongly, Wednesday struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities.

It leaves the tie on a knife-edge heading into Monday's second leg at Hillsborough. The fixture, which gets under way at 7:45pm, is sold-out.

Speaking on Sky Sports last night, former Owls striker Morrison said: "It [Sheffield Wednesday] is a massive football club and the fans are fantastic. They had over 33,000 in their last game against Portsmouth and there will be more than that. That will be packed and will be a sell out.

"I think the atmosphere here did help Sunderland's players and I think it will help Sheffield Wednesday's players. They didn't play well enough to get anything. They had a few half chances with Liam Palmer.

"I think it will be a totally different game at Hillsborough. It is all to play for.
