Shayden Morris adamant Aberdeen CAN land third spot again as Barry Robson has star convinced Euro return is on

Shayden Morris has insisted Barry Robson can get Aberdeen back on another New Year run that can repeat last season’s heroics and get them third spot for the second season running.

The Dons players and management got it in the neck again after Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to St Mirren. Furious Robson read the riot act to his players and Morris knows he was spot on and he expects a reaction against Ross County. Aberdeen are trailing in the bottom six but Morris believes they are capable of turning their stuttering campaign around, like when Robson led them from bottom six to best of the rest last season.

He said: “We want to go to Dingwall to try and get the three points. That is what we are going for. It is about getting a run of results. We know if we can do that like we did last season when we went on that run to get third place. We hope to do that again in the new year. We all know it is possible and this squad is capable of doing it again. We want to start it with a win against Ross County.”

The Dons are desperate for a European return but Morris knows that it has to be one step at a time, starting in the Highlands.

“We are just looking to start the year on a high,” the former Fleetwood Town player claimed. “We aren’t looking too far ahead. We just need to take it game-by-game and that starts on Tuesday. We just want to win that game to go into the break on a positive note.

"We want results going our way. This group we have has a lot of ambitions for the year. We know where we want to end the season. We are just waiting for that bit of luck and then we will kick on. “I am in no doubt about that.”
