Shayden Morris Aberdeen FC injury hammerblow laid bare by Barry Robson as boss admits 'it's a bad one'

Barry Robson has vowed Aberdeen will get Shayden Morris over his latest injury hell and back flying again.

The winger has been ruled out what looks likely to be for 10 weeks, after going through hamstring surgery. The Dons star suffered a similar injury to his other leg last season and came back stronger and Robson has insisted their medical team will ensure he comes back in the best possible condition again. Robson confirmed: “It’s a bad one for Shayden and it looks like it will be 10 weeks. He had an operation yesterday and it’s frustrating. You could see how well he’s done since the start of the season for us.

"We made the change at half-time against Hibs and it was always the plan as we knew he could hurt them so it’s frustrating to lose him.“It’s the exact same injury as he had but it’s the other hamstring and we wonder if it is a genetic thing.“What I’ve said to him is ‘we got you flying after the last one and we’ll get you back to that.’ “It’s frustrating as a team as he was performing well but hopefully the kid will be okay.“He was so important for us. When you play in different positions you have ideas of how you can use a player and we had a plan for him but he has ended up hurting himself.”

Robson used the break to get his non-internationalists more aligned to the demands of Scottish football. Last season’s success was built on a solid defence. This time around it has been a near rebuild of the Dons’ backline and this week is the first time Robson has had all his first-choice defenders available to him, with new signing Stefan Gartenmann joining in along with Richard Jensen, who has just returned from international duty.

He confirmed: “Today was the first training session we’ve had with all our defenders
