Shaun Murphy makes historic 147 against clock in Shoot Out
Shaun Murphy recorded the BetVictor Shoot Out's first ever 147 break this afternoon in Swansea.
The competition – which pits players against each in a 10-minute one-frame encounter and operates a shot clock throughout – had never seen a maximum break since its inception in 2011.
Mark Allen had made a 142 two years ago in the previous high break in the tournament.
Murphy was playing in the final match of the afternoon session against 16-year-old Bulcsú Révész.
The Hungarian teenager broke off in what proved to be his final shot of the competition after the former world champion.
Murphy overcame a red ball straying to the side cushion next to the yellow to make the maximum in seven minutes and 33 seconds, with just over two minutes left in the match.
The first round of the Shoot Out concludes on Wednesday night.
Ireland's Leone Crowley was beaten by Jackson Page in the first televised match of the Cork player’s career earlier in the afternoon.
Northern Ireland's Jordan Brown faces Gary Wilson at 8.45pm.
Aaron Hill takes on Alfie Burden at 10pm for a place in the last 64.
Allen won his first round match last night but Ken Doherty was beaten by Matthew Stevens.
