Shaun Maloney 'in pole position' to become Dundee manager after Jack Ross exits race
Former Hibs boss Shaun Malone y is reportedly now the favourite to be the next manager of relegated Dundee.
Record Sport revealed it was a straight shoot-out between the former Celtic star and his Easter Road predecessor Jack Ross.
But the Scotsman states Ross is no longer under consideration with Gordon Strachan and John Nelms undergoing a detailed search to find their next boss.
Mark McGhee was unable to have any impact at Dundee after replacing James McPake on February.
And now the club appear to be leaning to the former Hibs boss itching to prove a point after his four-month stint in Leith.
Strachan worked with Maloney when he was a player and is understood to value his work alongside Roberto Martinez.
Ross' wait for a return to the dugout goes on with the former Hibs manager yet to return to the dugout since being axed by Ron Gordon before Christmas.
Meanwhile, former Dens Park boss James McPake has earned a comeback with Dunfermline.
