Sharks back to winning ways with workmanlike win over defending champions Glasgow

It may not have been pretty, but the Sharks' 28-24 victory over the United Rugby Championship (URC) defending champions Glasgow Warriors gave a glimpse of how potent they will be when they finally get their Springboks for an extended period of time.

With 12 Boks in their starting line-up, 15 in the matchday 23 and nine World Cup winners in their squad, the Sharks - who apparently only trained together for the first time on Wednesday for the game - were a little disjointed but their quality was never in doubt as a team lying 14th on the table convincingly beat the team in third.

While the score may look a little closer than "convincing", it was more a testament to the Scottish side's stubbornness as they scored two quick tries in the 79th and 80th minutes to narrow the gap from what could easily have been a 16-point defeat to just four.

The visitors' never-say-die attitude earned them a precious two points from the game, for the losing bonus point and scoring four tries to the hosts' three, staying in third place on the table with the Sharks rising to 10th.

While the Springboks-laden Sharks crackled with intent, they were understandably a little disjointed in terms of the intricate parts of their playing pattern, given that they had introduced eight Rugby Championship Boks in their starting line-up.

By contrast, the Warriors were very much a team at one with their own game, well above average in all facets of the game.
