Shane Walsh and Damien Comer return to give Galway championship lift

Shane Walsh and Damien Comer are both in the Galway panel for Saturday's Connacht SFC semi-final against Sligo.

The pair missed a large part of the Tribesmen's Allianz Football League campaign but they are fit and ready to go as the championship begins in earnest.

Walsh has been named to start at Markievicz Park, with Comer on the bench.

Back in March, manager Padraic Joyce lamented a lengthy injury list that also included Matthew Tierney, Cillian McDaid, Robert Finnerty and Sean Kelly.

"I am not wrapping lads in cotton wool," he said. "We need to get points. If they were available, they’d be playing. They’re not available and they won’t for a number of weeks."

Finnerty and Kelly are also back in the frame as things brighten up on the injury front for Galway.

Joyce's men ended their Division 1 league campaign in sixth position.
