Shane Lowry well placed after round of 69 at Canadian Open
Shane Lowry has moved into the top 20 at the RBS Canadian Open, carding six birdies in a second-round three-under 69.
Starting on the tenth, Lowry began with a birdie and did something similar on the 11th, as he holed a 16-footer.
Consecutive birdies on 15 and 16 saw him four-under at the turn. However, a double-bogey six at the first stalled his momentum, a shot out of the rough leaving him way past the green.
The Offalyman got one back on the fourth, sinking a 25-footer, but would go on to bogey the sixth. He finished with a birdie at the par-three ninth to leave him three-under for the day and three-under overall at the halfway mark.
Leading the way is China's Carl Yuan, who carded a five-under 67. At nine-under-par he leads by two shots in the clubhouse from Andrew Novak (68) and Brendon Todd (69).
Dubliner David Carey misses the cut on three-over-par after he added a 74 to his opening 73.
Rory McIlroy's second round is ongoing. He started the day four adrift.
