SFA mega bans from Rangers Covid 5 to Bolingoli and Bowman as Jim Goodwin joins bad boys list

Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin is set to appeal a massive eight game ban handed to the boss after accusing Ryan Porteous of cheating - but the severity of the sanction has raised eyebrows.

The blistering post-match rant saw Goodwin accuse the Hibs defender of "blatant cheating" in order to win a penalty for his side, while Dons' defender Liam Scales also saw red during the flashpoint. The SFA have come down hard on the comments from the Pittodrie boss as they dished out one of their longest ever bans to Goodwin, and more hefty sanctions could be on the way in Scottish football.

Kilmarnock striker Kyle Lafferty could land a whopping 10 game ban when his hearing takes place after an alleged sectarian incident occurred while the forward was on international duty with Northern Ireland. Killie have already punished the former Rangers striker, but more disciplinary action looks to be on the way for the 35-year-old.

But what are the longest bans dished out in Scottish football? Record Sport takes a look as some of the biggest bans from the SFA.

Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli was hit with a five game ban after flouting coronavirus protocols. Two of the five matches were suspended pending any potential future breaches.

The defender took an unauthorised trip to Spain at the beginning of August, with his club and manager Neil Lennon unaware. The left-back did not quarantine on his return, breaking government rules on travel.

Clyde midfielder Ally Love was given a five-game "excessive misconduct" ban after being accused of making racist remarks. Love was charged by the SFA after comments made to Annan Athletic's Rabin Omar were reported by the referee.
