SFA issue Rangers 'responsibility' rebuke for meeting leak as Hampden beaks explain offside absence from VAR audio

The Scottish FA has revealed it's "disappointment" with Rangers going public after their private VAR meeting and have urged greater responsibility after Gers' Willie Collum request was leaked.

Ibrox chief executive James Bisgrove and Creag Robertson, director of football operations, met with Hampden beaks on Wednesday to listen to VAR audio of the decision making process that lead to Celtic's Alistair Johnston not being penalised for a handball in his own box, resulting in no Rangers penalty.

Confusion has reigned since, with Rangers claiming that there was no mention of Abdallah Sima being offside in the build up during the VAR review of the incident. The governing body has explained that it would have been identified had VAR deemed Johnston guilty of handball. A still image showing Sima's offside was shown by Sky Sports during the second half, and the SFA has admitted that it will be reviewing how it shares such information in future.

They said: "The Scottish FA is disappointed by contents of the most recent statement issued by Rangers in relation to a match incident during the club’s recent Premiership fixture against Celtic.

"Chief Executive James Bisgrove and Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson attended a private briefing with the Head of Referee Operations, Crawford Allan, to review the incident in question, including the use of matchday audio. We understood from the chief executive that the meeting had been constructive and informative, and conducted amicably. This does not appear to be reflected in the club’s statement.
