Several streets closed off in Barry due to 'serious incident'

Several streets in Barry are shut due to a serious incident. Police are at the scene in the Barry Road area of the town, where a cordon has been set up. People have been asked to avoid the area.

South Wales Police has not confirmed the nature of the incident at this time. The Welsh Ambulance Service has been asked to comment, while South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it is not in attendance.

An area which includes several streets has been cordoned off.

A spokesman for Vale of Glamorgan Council said: “Please note there are emergency road closures in the following locations due to a serious incident this morning:

Barry Road junction of Herbert Street and Davies Street, Barry Road near Tuck in Cafe, Court Road junction of Davies Street, Court Road junction of Hannah Street. South Wales Police are on the scene. Please avoid the area.”
