According to journalist Barry Anderson, the Scottish Premiership outfit are “set to sign” the Portuguese winger on a permanent deal, with a fee in the region of £6.3m set to prise him away from parent club, Benfica.

Writing on his Twitter account, Anderson said of the 23-year-old’s future that: “Celtic set to sign Jota permanently from Benfica for £6.3m (€7.5m). The winger is happy to stay in Scotland and Benfica expect the buyout clause in his loan deal to be activated by CFC.”

The Lisbon-born forward joined the Hoops on a season-long loan deal in the summer, with the Glasgow outfit seemingly set to activate the buy option that they included in that original deal.

Both supporters and manager Ange Postecoglou can now breathe a huge sigh of relief following this latest update, with the fleet-footed gem – who has been dubbed “terrific” by BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves – set to be a permanent fixture at Parkhead for years to come.

In what has been a tremendous campaign for the club as a whole, with a title triumph now seemingly an inevitability, on a personal note it has also proven a standout season for Jota, with the £4.75m-rated man having dazzled in the famous green and white jersey.
