Sergio Reguilon makes stance clear as he breaks silence on Manchester United exit

Sergio Reguilon expressed his gratitude to Manchester United after his time at the club came to an end.

Reguilon's time at Old Trafford was cut short by United, who inserted a break clause into his loan agreement when they signed him from Premier League rivals Spurs on transfer deadline day. The 27-year-old defender made 12 appearances for United but with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both nearing a return from injury, the break clause was activated by United.

As he heads back to Spurs, Reguilon clearly retains fond memories of his time at United, stating unequivocally his delight at the opportunity he was given. Thanking the club in a post on Instagram, the Spanish defender wrote: "It has been great to play for Manchester United and I just want to say thank you to the club, the fans and my teammates."

He also added: "It was a privilege to play for this huge club. I wish all the best for the Red Devils."

Reguilon previously had good things to say about Erik ten Hag in an interview with the club's website shortly after his arrival at Old Trafford, saying: "He wanted me to come and I wanted to come here too. It was all very easy.

"Now I am here and we have been speaking in training about what he wants from his left-back. I think we share the same philosophy. He likes hard workers and I love working hard, I think we're on exactly the same page."

United face Wigan Athletic in their next game, as the two sides will meet at the DW Stadium in the FA Cup third round on Monday evening.
