Sergio Aguero says Man City may regret Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling exits

Manchester City may regret selling Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal and Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, according to former striker Sergio Aguero.

Jesus, Mikel Arteta’s No.1 transfer target this summer, joined Arsenal for a whopping £45m earlier this month and penned a five-year contract.

Sterling moved to Chelsea in another £45m deal, with the England international reportedly agreeing terms on a £300,000-a-week deal.

Aguero played with both men at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola, and the Argentine striker feels the club may have made a mistake in letting them leave.

‘Both players were important in the City scheme,’ Aguero told Stake.com. ‘I’m sure City will miss them a lot as they are great players.

‘There will be a new make-up of the attack but this is a team with a great squad that will be ready for new challenges.’

Sterling, 27, has played a pivotal role in City winning the Premier League in four of the last five seasons but is looking for more regular starts ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year.

Brazil international Jesus, 25, registered eight goals and nine assists in 28 top-flight games for the champions last term – and in total has scored 95 times in 236 games for City across all competitions.

It has been a busy summer for Guardiola, who brought in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51.1m and Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips for £50m.

Speaking about the arrival of Haaland, Aguero added: ‘I think that an elite player like him will know how to reconcile his style with that of Pep’s teams.

‘It may take a while, as it did in the beginning for me. But once he gets into gear everything will be simpler. I think he has the talent to fulfill what is asked of him, which are goals.’
