Sergio Aguero makes Jude Bellingham transfer admission after Man City links

Sergio Aguero admits he rues the fact that Manchester City weren't able to land Jude Bellingham at any stage in the lead-up to his Real Madrid move - though he conceded that it was the 'way of the transfer market'.

The Premier League and Champions League holders have beaten off competition to sign a number of star players in recent seasons, including the likes of Erling Haaland, Josko Gvardiol and more recently Jeremy Dokuwhile seeing players like Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte depart in recent seasons.

Bellingham was coveted by every team on the continent after an outstanding spell at Borussia Dortmund following his move to Germany from Birmingham City in 2020. But with Real Madrid needing a new 'Galactico' in their midfield thanks to Casemiro's exit - along with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric entering the final stages of their careers, Bellingham was snapped up by the La Liga giants where his performances continue to be exemplary.

Aguero has acknowledged that Bellingham's availability came at a bad time for City to make their move but the legendary former Argentina striker admits the young England midfielder could become one of the all-time greats.

Aguero told Stake.com: "Jude's adaptation was downright impressive. Ten games, ten goals, that's the whole story. Even as a young player, the pressure of playing for such an enormous team didn't affect him. That's praiseworthy.
