Serge Gnabry preference emerges as Liverpool, Arsenal both learn German ace’s lucrative plan

What Serge Gnabry plans to do this summer has been revealed in the German media, with Liverpool and Arsenal among those sizing up a raid.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of intense transfer speculation already in 2022. Gnabry’s current deal at Bayern Munich is poised to expire in 2023. Losing him for free is an unpalatable prospect for the Bavarians with Sport1 describing it as the ‘worst case scenario’.

Bayern are keen to pin the winger down to fresh terms. The 60 goals and 41 assists he’s plundered since arriving in 2017 are an obvious indicator why.

However, Gnabry’s wage demands are believed to be a central issue as to why progress hasn’t been made. Bild previously reported Gnabry was seeking around £240,000-a-week, though Bayern’s latest offer was reportedly only in the region of £163,000-per-week.

That’s opened the door for Arsenal and Liverpool to pounce. The Gunners are in desperate need of firepower this summer, while Liverpool may be about to lose Sadio Mane, ironically to Bayern Munich.

The finances of what a move for Gnabry would require were recently detailed by Anfield Central. Given he is about to enter the final year of his deal, he’ll likely be available for a fraction of his true value this summer if sold.

Now, German outlet Sport1 has shed new light on what the future holds for Gnabry.

They state Gnabry’s preference is actually to remain at Bayern Munich next season. His reasoning stems from feeling comfortable both in the city of Munich as well as in the system of Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann.

His current plan is reportedly to enter the final 12 months of his contract without having made a concrete decision about what will come next.
