Serena Williams: John McEnroe compares tennis legend to Michael Jordan

John McEnroe has compared Serena Williams to basketball legend Michael Jordan and thinks the tennis star is one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Williams is a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and is just one major title away from equalling Margaret Court’s record.

The 40-year-old has not played competitive tennis since the 2021 edition of Wimbledon but has accepted a wildcard to play at the All England Club this year.

Having last won a Slam back in 2017 at the Australian Open, this tournament could prove to be Williams’ last attempt to claim her 24th major title.

Ahead of Wimbledon, Williams has teamed up with Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur to play doubles at Eastbourne.

The pair will face Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova in the first round on Monday.

Williams has won 14 major doubles titles so far in her career and is partnering with Jabeur for the first time –– much to the Tunisian’s delight.

“I am still over the moon with the news. I am really lucky that she picked me and hopefully we will make a great team,” Jabeur said.

“I
