Selling Timo Werner and pepping up Callum Hudson-Odoi: Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea to-do list

Chelsea kicked off the post-Roman Abramovich era in Las Vegas, with head coach Thomas Tuchel offering a glimpse of the chips that still need to be cashed in.

The new Todd Boehly-Clearlake ownership did not get to see summer signings Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, who watched Chelsea beat Mexican side Club America thanks to a late Mason Mount goal from the substitutes’ bench inside the Allegiant Stadium.

Instead, Tuchel offered rare chances to a number of players he would probably like Boehly, the co-controlling owner and interim sporting director, to find buyers for. That is easier said than done.

On this evidence, nobody will be knocking down the door for Michy Batshuayi following 45 minutes in which everybody of a blue persuasion will have wondered just how he is still a Chelsea player - particularly when he side-footed wide with just the goalkeeper to beat.
