Sean Dyche delivers Manchester United verdict after victory vs Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche admitted Alejandro Garnacho's early opener put his side on the 'back foot' following their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Fired up in response to the 10-point deduction imposed on them by the Premier League just over a week ago, Everton were expected to make a strong start, inspired by a passion-fuelled atmosphere. However, Garnacho's third-minute wonder goal was not part of the script, meaning they immediately had a mountain to climb.

To their credit, Everton recovered well, creating a plethora of chances in the first half. The best of them fell to Dwight McNeill, who dinked the ball over United goalkeeper Andre Onana, only to see Kobbie Mainoo hook it off the line.

Dyche was pleased with his side's first-half showing, but admitted Garnacho's heroics after just three minutes presented them with an unwanted uphill struggle.

"They started the game with a worldie which put us on the back foot," Dyche told BBC Sport. "We played well in the first half and had good chances so I was pleased at half-time."

United doubled their advantage just over 10 minutes into the start of the second half through a Marcus Rashford penalty. Referee John Brooks had initially booked Anthony Martial for simulation, only to reverse the decision following a VAR intervention, leaving Dyche furious on the touchline.
