Sean Crighton says "fresh start" with Dumbarton has him enjoying his football again

Sean Crighton powered in a late winner for Dumbarton against East Fife, and then revealed he’s got his love back for football at The Rock.

The defender’s second goal in as many games secured a third straight win for Stevie Farrell’s men, with Crighton and his teammates also celebrating a first clean sheet in the league this season.

And the defender admitted that he felt another goal might’ve been coming, having netted four in a five game spell for Stenhousemuir last season.

Sean told the Lennox: “I seem to get a goal and then go on a wee scoring run, it was something I did last year with Stenhousemuir - so hopefully there’s more to come.

“The most important thing for us though was the win, and a clean sheet is equally as important given we’ve conceded a few goals this season.

“I’d rather get a clean sheet than score to be honest. First and foremost it’s my job is to defend, if I can help out at the top end of the pitch then that’s great. But I want clean sheets, and so do the guys beside me.

“We’re delighted to get that first clean sheet, and it’s something I think we’ve deserved. We’ve dominated a lot of the games but just lost concentration and been punished for it.

“There are quality players in this league, and East Fife have plenty of them. You have to concentrate for the full game, we did that and got a massive three points.”

Sean arrived at The Rock in June from Stenhousemuir, after a difficult two seasons with the Warriors - which even saw him take the reins as caretaker manager for a spell.

And the Greenock born centre-half says that a move to G82 was exactly what his career needed.
