Scottish Premiership's most foul mouthed fans revealed as Aberdeen supporters let fly with expletives

A new study has ranked the most foul-mouthed fans in the Scottish Premiership last season.

And it may not come as a surprise to Aberdeen supporters that their frustrated fanbase came out on top.

The research conducted by bettingexpert scraped through the Instagram comments of every top flight team and ran them through an automated sentiment analysis tool, looking for swear words.

The Dons comfortably came out on top with 27 per cent of their comments containing swear words during a disappointing campaign.

The side finished a lowly 10th during a season which saw Stephen Glass axed, while Jim Goodwin struggled to turn the side around.

Hibs were not far behind in a season which saw two bosses sacked last season.

Twenty per cent of comments contained swear words during a season which saw Jack Ross and Shaun Maloney leave the club as they tumbled out of the top six.

And despite a season which saw the club earn a Europa Conference League spot, Dundee United took third with 19 per cent of all post containing an expletive.

That's in contrast to relegated city rivals Dundee, who only had 13 per cent of posts flagged up despite dropping out of the division under Mark McGhee.

Celtic and Rangers were among the best behaved with both clubs enjoying successful campaigns.

With Ange Postecoglou steering the club to the Premiership title and Premier Sports Cup, only 10 per cent of fans fumed on social media.

And during a season which saw Rangers reach the Europa League final and lift the Scottish Cup, just four per cent posted a foul-mouthed comment.
