Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures reveal date delayed by Dundee vs Rangers game

The SPFL won’t reveal the post split fixtures until AFTER Dundee host Rangers on Wednesday night despite the top six being confirmed on Saturday.

Supporters of Scottish Premiership clubs are desperate to learn the dates of their final five games and were hopeful news of the remaining fixtures were imminent. However, Record Sport can reveal that they won’t be published until the end of the week and not before the final pre-split game due to take place on Wednesday at Dens Park.

And that is due to the fact that the fixtures depend on the final placings in the Premiership with Dundee, who confirmed the last remaining top six spot ahead of Motherwell and Hibs on Saturday, still having the chance to leapfrog St Mirren into fifth spot. However, that would require Tony Docherty’s Dark Blues to beat Rangers by five goals in their clash this midweek.

The Buddies are five goals better off but while Dundee have that opportunity then the SPFL fixture schedulers are unable to confirm the remaining five games and that means a frustrating wait for fans. An SPFL source said: “The fixture announcement will be after all games have been played. The way the timetabling of the fixtures are set is dependant on the confirmed placings on the table.”

Dundee's clash with Rangers has been postponed twice already amid huge controversy and a Dens Park pitch inspection is reportedly set to take place mid-morning on Tuesday with the match to be switched to McDiarmid Park if it fails for a third time.
