Scottish Grand National 2023 final declarations as Mighty Thunder and Your Own Story go for Lucinda Russell

The Scottish Grand National is just round the corner and the final line-up for the blue ribbon event at Ayr racecourse has been announced.

Scottish trainer Lucinda Russell will be looking for a dream fortnight after Corach Rambler romped to victory at the Grand National at Aintree last weekend. She has two horses in the race on Saturday afternoon, Your Own Story ridden by Derek Foz and Mighty Thunder ridden by Patrick Wadge.

Kitty's Light enters the Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase at 3.35pm as the joint favourite at 9/2 which would give Christian Williams as second victory in the race. Organisers whittled down the field from 31 to 23 with Monbeg Genius (9/2) making the cut after being well backed in the betting market earlier this week. Russell will be hoping for a second victory for Mighty Thunder who won back in 2021, while Your Own Story is the third favourite at 8/1.

Scottish owned Dusart (Ronnie Bartlett) is on 16/1 with Elvis Mail (Nick Alexander) 18/1, Flash Collonges (Paul Nicholls) 14/1 and Undersupervision (Nigel Twiston-Davies) 16/1 all in contention to win the big prize. Nicholls has won the race on three occasions with Belmont King (1997) and Vicente (2016 & 17) and Twiston-Davies is also a three-times winner with Captain Dibble (1992), Earth Summit (1994) and Hello Bud (2009).

The winner of the prestigious race is set to bag £200,000.
