Scott Arfield set for Rangers departure after five seasons at Ibrox

Livingston lad Scott Arfield will leave Rangers at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old former St Margaret’s Academy pupil signed for the Ibrox side in 2018 from Burnley and went on to become an integral part of the team.

He has made 231 appearances for the club across his five seasons at the Light Blues, netting 43 goals.

The ex-Canada international started his career at Falkirk before making the move down south and is now on the look-out for a new home.

Rangers boss Michael Beale admitted it was a tough decision electing not to offer Arfield a new contract, saying: "Scott was a difficult decision because he’s been contributing on the pitch.

“But with one or two midfielders coming in and the hope Tom Lawrence returns to fitness, then you have young Bailey (Rice) and Alex (Lowry). You have to think about the bigger picture for both Scott and for Rangers also.”

Arfield is one of five Rangers departures with Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Filip Helander all leaving the club at the end of the season.
