Scotland recognised as Euro 2024 heavyweights as rival boss warns this is a GROUP OF DEATH

Hungary boss Marco Rossi reckons they are in the Euro 2024 Group of Death with Scotland this summer because he expects it to be the toughest section in the tournament.

Scotland face the Magyars in the do-or-die last game in Stuttgart, after Steve Clarke's side open the tournament against hosts Germany, with Switzerland also in the group. But while Scotland are on a dismal seven-game run without a win and sweating on several injury worries for the Finals, the Hungarians couldn't be going into the tournament any more confident after a 14-match unbeaten run.

However, Rossi has refused to write off Scotland and believes Group A will be the toughest of the six sections. He said: "In my opinion, ourselves, Germany, Switzerland and Scotland make up the hardest group in the Finals to qualify from. Our opponents are extremely physically strong teams.

"Under my management, we have yet to play either Scotland or Switzerland. But we played Germany in the Nations League and drew and beat them. Fortunately, several of our squad know the Scottish and Swiss players well because during the season they meet each other many times either as team-mates or as opponents in the English Premier League and other strong leagues.

"On the one hand, it is a disadvantage that we cannot rely on the experience of actually playing them, but on the other hand, this is also true for Scotland and Switzerland. We have watched them both for a long time.

"The most important thing for me is that we go into the Finals with a fit and healthy squad. In this case, our chances of a good performance would increase significantly.
