Scotland international and Exeter Chiefs star Stuart Hogg announces immediate retirement from rugby

Scotland and Exeter Chiefs full-back Stuart Hogg has announced his retirement from rugby with immediate effect. Ad “It is difficult where to start but with great sadness and an enormous amount of pride, I am announcing my immediate retirement from playing rugby,” Hogg wrote on social media.

He would go on to make 100 appearances for his country, scoring a record 27 tries in Scottish colours and captaining the side from 2020 to 2022.

Among the career highlights, Hogg led Scotland to a first win at Twickenham since 1983 and a first away victory against France since 1999 during the 2021 Six Nations.
