Scotland fans prepare spectacular Hampden tifo as players to be met with 'colour and noise' for Ukraine showdown

Scotland players will be met with a spectacular tifo when they walk out of the Hampden tunnel on Wednesday after fans raised more than £10,000 for a display.

Supporters in the North Stand will be given flags to wave before kick-off against Ukraine for the massive World Cup play-off semi-final.

Volunteers will help prepare the tifo on the morning of the match as they look to inspire the players to the win that would take Scotland to within 90 minutes of their first World Cup since 1998.

From the moment the game was sold out in February ahead of the original March date, the Scotland Tifo Group Twitter account was set up to appeal for donations to create “colour and noise”.

And they have raised thousands of pounds with an extra money raised is being donated to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.

Organiser Laura Brannan wouldn't reveal what the display is, although it won’t be a Ukraine flag, said: ”It'll be the angle the TV cameras look on to, and it'll be the first thing the players see when they walk out the tunnel.

"We just want to make as much noise and as much colour as possible, and add to what will already be an amazing atmosphere.

"We want to show the players what it means to us. This is a huge game, and it's about adding that sense of occasion.

“Anything before has been something that the Scottish FA have paid for, or sponsors have paid for, but this is fans putting hands in their own pockets.

"That makes it even more special, because it shows there's an appetite to grow this."
