School 'truly heartbroken' after 'much loved' Year 10 student Ethan Allen hit by car and killed

A school is 'truly heartbroken' after the tragic death of one of its pupils, who was hit by a car while crossing the road in Oldham. Ethan Allen, 15, died in hospital on Thursday, two days after being hit by the car on Rochdale Road.

It's understood Ethan, a pupil at Oasis Academy Leesbrook in Oldham, had been out with friends and was crossing the street with his 14-year-old girlfriend Olivia when he was hit by a black Seat Ibiza near the junction with King Street at about 8pm.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and later released on bail. Olivia escaped injury.
