Savvy mum transforms daughter's bedroom for just £51 using B&Q, IKEA and Homebase bargains
Home renovations can often become quite costly, especially when you are trying to keep up with the latest trends. A mum-of-two has revealed how she completely transformed her daughter's bedroom on a budget of just £51 by shopping around for the best bargains.
Jordan Collins, 31, wanted to redecorate her daughter's bedroom for her 10th birthday, and looked into getting trendy panelling done. However after she was quoted £150 by a professional, which didn't include paint, she looked to see if she could do it herself for much cheaper. The money-saving mum headed to B&Q, IKEA and Homebase to source her supplies before she tried her hand at DIY to create the panelling herself.

"The room transformation was for Amaya's 10th birthday, she had gathered ideas from Pinterest," Jordan told money-saving Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK. "I had looked around and found pre-cut panels in packs of six from Homebase for £11.95. I used three packs for her bedroom across two walls."
"To create the panelling I measured each wall and cut the panels to fit along the skirting boards and the top part of the design," Jordan explained. I then placed the panels along the edge of walls vertically and measured the space between each and worked out how many panels I’d need along with spaces between.
“I took away the number of panels by their dimensions to give me the right measurements between spaces. "I used No More Nails glue to attach them to the walls and used a spirit level to check they were straight.
“Once dry I painted them Natural Sage by Johnstones. I had painted the other walls brilliant white before starting my panelling project."
