Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez: Mikey Garcia gives prediction for Gennady Golovkin trilogy fight

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will have age on his side against Gennady Golovkin in their eagerly-anticipated trilogy fight, according to Mikey Garcia.

In less than a week’s time, Canelo and Golovkin go head-to-head for a third and most likely final time on September 17, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Golovkin’s rematch with Canelo – which has been nearly four years in the making – provides him with the opportunity to get one back against his bitter rival, who controversially beat him in their rematch back in September 2018.

However there are many who believe Canelo’s relative youth and ruthless finishing instinct is Golovkin’s kryptonite and he’ll have his way with his predecessor at the summit of the middleweight division.

Garcia counts himself as part of that same group and reckons Golovkin could very well take a beating in their long-awaited trilogy fight.

“I think it’s a good fight, but I think Canelo takes it,” Garcia told FightHype.com. “They know each other so well. That doesn’t play too much because they already fought each other twice.

“Canelo has fought at a higher weight class, but he’s not a big dude naturally.

“Also he started much smaller so it’s not going to play too much of a role.

“I just think Canelo is at a better time age and career-wise vs Golovkin. It’s a good fight. Golovkin is going to try his hardest to f***ing put him out but I think Canelo wins.”

Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo is eight years younger than Golovkin despite having made his professional debut three years earlier.
