Sarah Healy sets new Irish indoor 1500m record
Sarah Healy has broken the Irish indoor 1500m record after finishing fifth at the World Indoor Tour Gold meet in Lievin, France.
The UCD athlete ran a time of 4.03.83. two seconds faster than the time set by Ciara Mageean in January 2020.
The race was won by Freweyni Hailu of Ethiopia who ran a time of 3:57.24.
It's Healy's second record in the space of a week having set a new Irish 3,000m indoor record of 8:36.06 after finishing second n Metz, France last Saturday.
There was a third-place finish for Sarah Lavin in the 60m hurdles.
Lavin had recorded a time of 8.02 in Heat A to qualify for the final, and she improved that to 7.98 for the decider to finish behind Nigeria's Tobi Amusan (7.83 and) Laeticia Bapte of France (7.97).
