San Francisco 49ers: GM John Lynch doubles down on Deebo Samuel claim

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has discussed the latest when it comes to Deebo Samuel and his future with the team.

The 26-year-old Deebo Samuel has developed into one of the biggest offensive weapons in the NFL, with the San Francisco 49ers turning the natural wide receiver into a dual threat in the ground game as well.

Last year for instance he managed to haul in 1,405 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns whilst also rushing for 365 yards and 8 touchdowns along the ground in the regular season, helping get the 49ers to the playoffs.

However, his future is very much up in the air at the moment with multiple twists and turns that haven’t given any clear indication as to what will happen to him in the 2022 season.

The San Francisco 49ers insist that they will not be trading or releasing him, with John Lynch being quoted as saying back in April before the NFL Draft, that he didn’t see a scenario where they would let him get away from them:

Although it should be noted that the 49ers did draft a running back and wide receiver over draft weekend, Tyrion Davis-Price and Danny Gray respectively, so these could be the seeds being planted to replace Samuel if they do eventually give in.

Through all this, Samuel has been adamant that he doesn’t want to be back with the team, even going as far as holding out as the team begin their OTAs this offseason:

The #49ers begin OTAs today and star WR Deebo Samuel won’t be in attendance, source said. Not a surprise, as his situation remains unsettled.
