Liverpool: ‘World-class’ £200k-a-week star is ‘likely’ to leave Anfield

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is ‘likely’ to leave the club this summer following a hugely successful six-year stay, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The 30-year-old’s current contract is due to expire in just over 12 months’ time, and he’s decided to leave Anfield in search of a new challenge ahead of next season.

Reliable reporter and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Mane is ‘ready for a new experience after many special years’ with the Reds.

It’s claimed the Senegal international waited until after the Champions League final to inform the Liverpool hierarchy of his decision, and as such, the race for his signature remains open.

The Athletic’s James Pearce claims that Bayern Munich are ‘the strong favourites’ to secure his signature, though, as they search for potential replacements for Robert Lewandowski.

Pearce claims that Liverpool chiefs have dismissed reports made in Germany that a deal could be done for around €30 million (£25.5m) as the Premier League giants would rather lose Mane on a free in 12 months than do business for that price.

Instead, Liverpool are said to value the versatile attacker at around €50m (£42.5m) and they would need to have a suitable replacement lined up before sanctioning his departure.

Brown believes that Bayern are one of ‘only a handful of clubs’ that Mane would leave Liverpool for, although he reckons the German champions won’t be the only interested party.
