San Diego Padres eliminate New York Mets, secure NLDS date with Los Angeles Dodgers

NEW YORK — The San Diego Padres knocked the New York Mets out of the NL Wild Card Series, navigating past the superstar pitching duo of Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom.

San Diego won the winner-take-all Game 3 on Sunday, 6-0, advancing to the division round against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Padres have made significant financial investments in Tatis, Manny Machado, Yu Darvish, Wil Myers and Blake Snell,
