Sam Smith 'spotted in Wigan doing donuts' in car for new music video with Calvin Harris

Singer Sam Smith was 'spotted in Wigan in a car doing donuts' for a new music video with DJ and producer Calvin Harris.

Much to their amusement, fans quickly spotted the DW Stadium in the background of the pair's new music video for their third collaboration Desire that dropped on Friday (August 11).

The dance track, which is currently in the charts and is nearing 1m views on Youtube, appears to have segments filmed in an open car park beside the famous pitch - and people can't quite believe it.

The video features a group of drag racers meeting up and driving around an open car park, while Smith sings and poses around, and inside, a race car. However, it appears it was actually trained stunt drivers behind the wheels of the cars in the music video.

‘Desire’ first debuted in the UK Top 20 charts, peaking at number 12 and has since garnered over 18 million streams globally.

@jmboyers tweeted: "Curious and (pleasantly) surprised to find that Calvin Harris and Sam Smith decided to film their new video outside the DW stadium in Wigan!"

@DianeCritchley shared the video to Twitter, posting: "HaHaHa little Wigan's DW Stadium getting in on Sam Smith's new video" as @oliviamaycherry comically wrote: "why is sam smith doing donuts on a car park in wigan."

Another user, @joeh50 said they were 'actually in tears at the thought' of Sam Smith 'drifting' the vehicle in a car park beside the stadium.
