Sam Lavelle shares update ahead of Charlton Athletic’s clash with Rotherham

Charlton Athletic defender Sam Lavelle has confirmed on Instagram that he is set to miss the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign after suffering a shoulder injury during his side’s clash with AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Lavelle picked up this issue in the second-half of the game as he was replaced by Ryan Inniss who was shown a red card just seven minutes after his introduction.

Charlton opened the scoring at Plough Lane following Inniss’ dismissal as Jayden Stockley netted his 17th goal of the season.

Ahead of the Addicks’ trip to the AESSEAL New York Stadium, Lavelle has shared an update on his injury on Instagram.

The defender posted: “Season done for me after doing my shoulder last night [Tuesday].

“Frustrating year for myself with 2 freak injuries and as a club we know we’ve massively underachieved.

“But I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first season in a Charlton shirt and will go again in pre-season @cafcofficial.”
