Rylan Clark makes 'very special' announcement as he's replaced on BBC Radio 2 show by familiar face

Rylan Clark has shared that he'll be taking a break from his BBC Radio 2 show as he made an announcement about who was replacing him. The TV and radio star recently celebrated five years since landing his own show on the station.

Rylan, 35, took over Zoe Ball’s Saturday afternoon slot on Radio 2 when she moved to present the station’s breakfast show in 2019. But next month, Paddy McGuinness will take over the 3pm to 6pm slot for four weeks while the usual host films "something very special".

Rylan said: "I’m going to be off for a few weeks filming something very special – so the wonderful Paddy McGuinness is going to be keeping my lovely Radio 2 listeners entertained while I’m away. Over to you Paddy."

Paddy will take over on Saturday, February 10 and for the following three weeks after that. Alongside music and a string of guests, his shows will feature the regular quiz Couch Potatoes which sees listeners go head-to-head to test their film and TV knowledge.

The shows will also still feature the Winning At Life segment where listeners are invited to share things that have gone well with them recently.

Former Top Gear host Paddy, previously stepped in to host a quiz on Vernon Kay’s mid-morning show for a number of shows in November while the host was running an ultra marathon for Children In Need, said: "I’m really excited to be taking over the reins of Rylan’s show and keeping his seat warm for four weeks. I can’t wait to bring the fun, and an endless supply of dad jokes, to Radio 2 every Saturday."
