Ryan Jack transfer confession as Rangers exit sees Dundee boss Tony Docherty declare 'love'

Tony Docherty haș admitted he would love to bring Ryan Jack to Dundee.

The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Rangers and returning from Euro 2024 with Scotland. Docherty previously worked with Jack at Aberdeen and hopes that would give the Dark Blues a chance of landing the 32-year-old. Docherty, when asked if he felt he had a chance of landing Jack, answered: “I’d love to think so. I love Jack, he’s a fantastic footballer and a brilliant person. But I’ve not had any conversations with Jacko. If you are getting linked with that type of player then…But it’s just speculation.”

Dundee are also interested in Ross County striker Simon Murray. The frontman is keen to return to the City of Discovery for family reasons although County are keen to keep a hold of their top scorer and if he was to leave then any interested parties would need to pay a fee.

Docherty refused to be drawn on his club’s links. He defensively stated: “Speculation. Everybody knows Simon is a Dundee boy so people put two and two together but Simon is contracted to Ross County. He had a brilliant season last season so I can understand why people would come to that but I need to respect that Simon is a Ross County player.”

There is also set to be a shock departure from Dens Park. Rickie Lamie is set to exit after only signing a two year contract in the summer. The big defender had been on-loan from Motherwell before he was offered a permanent deal. He, however, is expected to exit in the next couple of days.

“We are in negotiations with his representatives at the moment,” Docherty confirmed. “There is nothing on that right now, we’ll make a statement on that when we need to.”
