Ryan Jack 'ahead' of Kemar Roofe in Rangers fitness race as key pair eye Europa League Final return

Giovanni van Bronckhorst insists key man Ryan Jack will be fit for Seville but is still sweating on Kemar Roofe for the Europa League Final.

Key man Jack was again missing for the 4-1 romp over Ross County having also sat out the weekend Dundee United win after suffering an injury in the RB Leipzig second leg clash.

Roofe has been out with a knee injury since the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic at Hampden three weeks ago.

And Van Bronckhorst said: “It is going to be a close call for Kemar. So we have to assess him day by day.

“I think Jack is ahead of him. Jack will be ready for next week but I still don’t know about Kemar.”

Van Bronckhorst has also played down fears of an injury to scorer Scott Wright after he went off against the Highlanders.

The former Aberdeen man kicked off the rout against the Staggies at Ibrox with the opener in the 4-1 victory.

But Wright went off with an ice pack on an injury shortly after sloppy play led to County’s consolation from substitute Jordan White.

The 24-year-old was also on the end of a crude Jake Vokins challenge with Keith Watson the same on Fashion Sakala.

Van Bronckhorst, though, told Rangers TV after the game: “Of course he got a knock, but Scott Wright is okay.

“He’s been doing really well. In the beginning when I came, he didn’t get game time. But then he came into the team because he has a lot of strengths.

“He is very fast, very mobile. He can take on players in a one-v-one situation. I’m happy for him because we have been switching our formation a lot, at times we play with a midfield player on the right wing. But I think he can do both.

“His development is that he can play as right winger but is also comfortable now on the inside."
