Ryan Jack injury blow as Rangers star OUT of Scotland's Ukraine showdown with Allan Campbell drafted in

Rangers star Ryan Jack is OUT of Scotland’s crucial World Cup play-off tie against Ukraine.

And gaffer Steve Clarke has drafted in uncapped Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell to replace him.

An ankle problem means Jack will miss the game at Hampden as well as a potential do-or-die clash with Wales in Cardiff on Sunday for a place at Qatar 2022.

But that has opened the door for former Motherwell kid Campbell, who has enjoyed a terrific season in the English Championship with the Hatters.

Jack’s absence is a blow to Clarke ahead of Ukraine’s visit to Glasgow and he’s yet to decide on his starting line-up for Wednesday night.

But he will give Everton defender Nathan Patterson every chance to play despite his lack of games for the Toffees and a recent injury.

The 20-year-old is Clarke’s first choice right-back but he has other options in the shape of Stephen O’Donnell, Aaron Hickey and Anthony Ralston.

On the eve of Scotland ’s critical semi-final tie, the manager said: “There’s still a few things up for grabs in terms of the team because we’re at the end of a long season.

“I won’t get the full group together until Monday.

“From there I’ll start to make decisions and finalise the team. Our preparation will be good, everyone will know what they have to do.

“But there are one or two decisions still to be made in terms of certain positions.

“Nathan isn’t going to be match fit because the last time he played was for us.

“He’s been unfortunate because I had a chat with Frank Lampard at that time and he was going back to start for Everton against West Ham but got injured the day before.
