Ruud van Nistelrooy next job tipped after emotional Manchester United exit

Ruud van Nistelrooy could, potentially, line up a quick return to football following his exit from Manchester United, with the Dutchman already linked to other jobs.

After four games unbeaten as their interim manager, it was announced earlier this week that the former striker will not be part of Ruben Amorim's backroom staff at Old Trafford. Having joined as assistant manager this summer, that means his short stint back at United has come to an end.

Van Nistelrooy has now responded to his exit with a heartfelt message to the club and supporters. "To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and fans. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support," he wrote on social media.

His exit from Old Trafford has prompted speculation over where his next job may be. As recently as this summer, the Dutchman was reported to have held talks with Burnley over their managerial position, there were also some links to newly-promoted Leicester City - before they appointed Steve Cooper.
