Russell Martin issues Swansea City transfer warning as Leicester City interest lingers

The forward has been linked with a move to Premier League outfit Leicester City for this summer.

But the Swansea boss is adamant that the club will not be backing down to bigger clubs and will be standing firm to hold onto the team’s best players.

Piroe has 18 league goals for the Welsh club this season and is the team’s top scorer.

Martin has claimed that the owners, sporting director Mark Allen and chief executive Julian Winter are all on the same page when it comes to the sale of Swansea players.

“All I know is that we’ll make sure, if anyone ever leaves the building, that it’s worthwhile for us and it means we can go and find the next one.”

The Dutchman signed for Swansea last summer from PSV Eindhoven and is contracted with the club until 2024.

The 22-year-old has been one of the team’s top performers in an otherwise underwhelming campaign for the side.

Swansea are currently 14th in the Championship table as Martin oversees a transitional campaign for last year’s play-off finalists.

Up next for the Swans is a home game against Barnsley as the team looks to maintain their recent run of good form.

The two meet this afternoon at 3pm.
