Swansea City transfer headlines as striker reveals requirements for promotion push and ex-Swans pair to play in charity game

Your Swansea City headlines for Wednesday, May 4.

Joel Piroe believes Swansea will be able to challenge for the league title next season if they have a productive summer.

The Swans have endured a mixed campaign under Russell Martin but have found more consistency when it comes to performances and results in the latter stages of the 2021/22 season. Flynn Downes recently stated his desire to see the Swans target Championship glory next term.

And top-scorer Piroe says with a full pre-season and a few additional signings, Martin's men can be serious contenders for promotion in the head coach's second campaign at the club.

"Yes, 100%, we can win the league," responded the Dutchman when asked if winning the league title is a realistic aim next season. "If you see how well we did against Fulham and Bournemouth, then of course, if we have a couple of different players and a full pre-season, we can achieve even better results.

"If you can do that on a regular basis throughout the season then you can think about the title. I think we can play for promotion, 100%, direct or through the play-offs. We will see next season.”
