Ruck goes 5 for 5 with win in 50m fly; Dawson sweeps breaststroke on final day of national trials

The Canadian swimming trials came to a close Thursday in Montreal, with Taylor Ruck finishing the meet the same way she began it — atop the podium.

The Kelowna, B.C., native picked up her fifth national title of the week, winning the women's 50-metre butterfly in 25.93 seconds.

To round out the podium, Matea Gigovic finished second in 26.38, while Leilani Fack placed third in 26.88.

It capped off a remarkable week for the 26-year-old, who also won the 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle.

"In summary, I'd say it's been a great trials and looking forward to Pan Pacs."

Earlier in the meet, Ruck became just the second Canadian swimmer to win national titles in three different strokes at a single trials, joining Summer McIntosh.
