Ruben Dias names 'world class' Man City team-mate who has special trait

Ruben Dias believes Bernardo Silva's tactical understanding and versatility has helped him become one of the best players in the world.

The Manchester City star, who signed a new contract with the club this week, has become a swiss-army knife for Pep Guardiola. Throughout his time in Manchester, he's played on the right and in a variety of midfield roles.

His compatriot, Dias, believes that level of football understanding makes him stand out against his peers. Dias thinks that extra edge has helped take his performance levels to a new standard.

“I consider him [Bernardo] to be a person who has a very good understanding of football and his own game,” Dias told the club site. “But with Bernardo, I think this is taken to a new level, due to his ability to play in any position on the pitch, and to be able to know exactly what to do.

“I think that this is related to how he is able to understand the game, to have total confidence in completely different positions. There were moments last season where he went from right wing to left back.

“I think this is an ability that very few people have in the world of football. I am as impressed by this as anyone, so I think to have that ‘super intelligence’ of the game would be no bad thing.”

The transfer window is in full swing and City have been busy, with high-profile signings and sales aplenty.

City snapped up Croatian pair Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol from Chelsea and RB Leipzig respectively with the latest addition being Jeremy Doku. In terms of outgoings, Treble winner Ilkay Gundogan departed for Barcelona, while Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez moved to Saudi Arabia.
