Ruben Amorim sent Chido Obi-Martin instruction amid Man United striker problem
Ruben Amorim faces a challenge to get his team firing again with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee out-of-sorts this season, but the wealth of talent in the Manchester United academy is open to him - and some fans in the Manchester Evening News comments sections want the club to be brave and unearth the next gem like Barcelona and Spain's Lamine Yamal.
Seventeen-year-old Chido Obi-Martin is one such talent, arriving from Arsenal in the summer and scoring 9 in 11 games in the age-group sides, and Amorim has not ruled out calling upon younger reinforcements in the future if the current strikers can't improve. United decided against putting up the cash for more forward options after letting Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Ethan Wheatley leave on loan in the January transfer window
Rashford himself made his debut at 18 amid a shortage of attacking options back in 2016, and United have a proud tradition of giving talented youngsters the chance to experience top-flight football - whether they stick around or move elsewhere.
On our Facebook page, some fans hope that there is a young world superstar waiting to be picked in the academy line-up. Reader Karanja Maxwell says: “Lamine Yamal was 17 when he debuted for Barcelona, sooo…”
Saul Phiri thinks that Amorim shouldn't be put off by Obi-Martin's age: “He is not a novice because he has been scoring goals. How old should be a player to qualify in the first team? Remember, scoring has no age.”
Others see the situation as poor squad planning. Denis Arsenis writes: “So now we must place all our hopes on a 17-year-old novice?"
In our comments section, reader Anthonys-one-man-army says that the strikers aren't the problem: “The strikers need service, Garnacho rarely has end product
