Marcus Rashford Barcelona transfer 'stance' emerges despite Aston Villa agreement with Man United

Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford is reportedly still wanting a move to Barcelona despite Aston Villa having an option to buy.

Following disagreements with Ruben Amorim, leading to the Portuguese manager leaving Rashford out of his squads, the 27-year-old left Old Trafford. He joined Unai Emery at Villa on loan until the end of the season.

The Midlands club do have an option to buy Rashford at the end of the loan deal for £40m. Despite this, The Sun has revealed that the on-loan forward is still wanting a dream move to Barcelona.

A source told them: “Marcus is confident that if he rediscovers his form at Villa Park and starts bagging goals, Barcelona will revive their interest, especially as a transfer price has been established.

“It’s a huge incentive for him, which is good news for Villa. Now he just needs to get playing and start scoring.”

In Rashford's opening two games for Villa, he has shown that he's up to the task. He smacked a free-kick off the crossbar against Ipswich which dropped to Ollie Watkins for the equaliser. Rashford came very close to grabbing a dramatic winner at the end.

The United loanee has made it clear that he recognises he only has the second half of the season to prove himself.

“Obviously it’s only short term that I’m here but I want to make the most of my time here," he said. “And the only way to do that is by using my attributes and skill sets to help the team."

The change of mind from Barcelona to Birmingham derived from the La Liga giants failure to put an effective deal on the table. Barca's sporting director, Deco, admitted that there were talks, but the Spanish club "were not desperately looking for a player."
