Ruben Amorim could soon add another player to strongest Man United squad without spending a penny

Manchester United did not get off to the dream start under Ruben Amorim but the Portuguese will at least have a better understanding of the task at hand.

United showed everything they are doing well at present in the opening 90 seconds when they took the lead over Ipswich Town. Amad, the main bright spark, did excellently to beat his man before putting an inviting cross for Marcus Rashford to prod home.

In the end, a point was a fair result but their defence was left with plenty of question marks surrounding it. United lined up with Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans in the back three which is probably only a third of the defence which Amorim would like to choose.

Fortunately, that defence could be strengthened as earlier as Thursday night free of charge thanks to Leny Yoro. Ten Hag would have been cursing his luck in the summer when the Frenchman picked up a serious foot injury against Arsenal in pre-season.

Since then, the young centre-back has been unable to feature but he has been able to return to the training group at Carrington. There had been some speculation that Yoro could play in Suffolk but that fixture came just too soon.
