Ruaidhri Higgins 'baffled' at how Derry City did not beat St Patrick's Athletic

Derry City manager Ruaidhri Higgins was satisfied with what he saw from his side against St Patrick's Athletic despite a second draw in three days seeing them slip from the summit of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Candystripes followed up Friday's 1-1 draw at home to Bohemians with another Brandywell draw on Monday night against a Saints team they had thrashed 4-0 away on 29 April.

Derry dominated possession but without being able to break down Tim Clancy's side in the eventual 0-0 draw.

The result allowed champions Shamrock Rovers to go top of the table, one point clear of Higgins' team, ahead of the top-of-the-table meeting between the sides, which will be live on RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player this Friday.

Nevertheless, the Derry boss was happy with his side's overall performance outside the final third.

"The performance levels were outstanding. Compared to our performance on Friday night, it was night and day," he said.

"(It was) brilliant, more like us. I'm lost for words, I don't know how we haven't won the game."

Higgins felt his side had needed to be more "ruthless at the top end" against Pat's to make the most of good build-up play.

"Our play up to that bit was really, really good and we passed the ball at speed, and we passed it forward at speed and our movement off the ball was brilliant.

"I'm baffled how we haven't come away with three points."
